Your guide
on the web.
Pete Hawkins has spent twenty years navigating UK businesses through web design, hosting and the occasional full-scale rescue. He literally wrote the book on navigation — and he'll get your business where it needs to go, jargon-free.

What I do
You know you need a website but don't know where to start? You're not alone — I've eased over 150 businesses through the process, explaining the jargon as we go.
// The route
From "we need a website" to a site that's live and looked after
Whatever the size of your business, the approach is the same. Here's the route, waypoint by waypoint.
Work out what the site is for
Why you need a website, what it should do for your business, and what you want visitors to do once they're there.
Get the message and pictures right
The story your site should tell, and the images and graphics that will tell it properly. A photo speaks a thousand words — and who's reading a thousand words anyway?
Agree timescales and a fair price
A schedule that suits you, a price that's fair to us both, and a clear plan for support after launch.
Build and launch
You get a shiny new website we're both pleased with — tested across laptops, tablets and phones.
Monitored, updated, supported
Once live, I keep your site monitored, updated and secure — with live visitor stats and help getting noticed by search engines. The route doesn't end at launch.

Sites I've built — go and check the footers
These are live sites, out in the wild. Every site I build carries a credit in its footer — it's how most of my new clients find me.
Andy Cook Cycling
Bike camps, sportives and event organisation — 25 years of cycling events across the UK and Europe.
Leadout Events
Bespoke cycling events for corporates and charities — London to Paris and beyond.
The Red Lion, Litton
An unspoilt 1787 Peak District pub — menus, rooms, ales and a famous beer festival.
The Threshing Barn
Large e-commerce catalogue for a Swaledale spinning, weaving and felting supplier.
InfoCrank
Austria-based cycling power meter business — built in conjunction with Leadout Projects.
Fred. Olsen Renewables & Tracsis
Corporate sites for a renewables multinational and transport-data specialists — with Leadout Projects.
Plus Rufflander Boots (complex e-commerce), Silva Navigation School, Hope Farm House Barn, Stella's Kitchen, Peak Physique and dozens more over twenty years — spotted a "Website by Pete Hawkins" footer somewhere you like? That's the trail marker.

Hosting that's green, UK-based and actually supported
- UK servers only — from two reliable, responsive companies vetted over twenty years.
- Certified Green Web hosting — both server companies are certified Green Web Companies.
- Monitored and maintained — software kept up to date and secure, problems fixed before you notice.
- Updates done for you — for a small monthly fee, tell me what needs changing and it gets done.
Depending on your requirements — see the hosting T&Cs or call to discuss.

Web & domain rescue
"Can you help? My website looks like I run a French bistro and my web designer won't talk to me."
Designer vanished, server shut down, email dead, and you don't know your HTML from your elbow? It happens all too often. Call me, explain what's going on, and I'll talk you through the recovery route and a realistic timescale for getting back online.
